Tanya TrusslerDr. Tanya Trussler is the most recent addition the Department. She completed her PhD in Sociology at McGill University in 2010 where she studied geo-temporal factors affecting homicide and homicide clearance in Canada. Her primary research areas include structural correlates of violence, factors relating to homicide clearance, extra-state violence, inter- and intra- state violence, violent recidivism, quantitative criminology and gang violence. Dr. Trussler is currently involved in several research projects including: adult sexual assault in Calgary, sexual assault on University campuses, Detectives' perspectives on homicide clearance, elder abuse risk assessment, and an analysis of prison gang membership. She is also involved in the Human Research Ethics Board at Mount Royal University. Her teaching interests are quantitative methods, violence and society, and criminological theory.
