![]() Norm Vaughan Assistant Professor Department Education & Schooling |
Norm VaughanFor Dr. Norman Vaughan, students are the bottom line. His research is focused on maximizing educational technologies to promote engagement and measurable improvement in students. Using the best of face-to-face learning in conjunction with online reflective learning, his work on Blended Learning in Higher Education (the name of his book as well) has been recognized with the American University Continuing Education Association 2008 Frandson award.
Dr. Vaughan is continuing his work on student engagement and web2.0 technologies with a larger research project examining five collaborative technologies in eight categories--social bookmarks, wikis, blogs, social networking sites, mash-ups, VOIP (and Second Life). Using case studies, Vaughan is examining how instruction is delivered through each of these technologies and collecting feedback from students and educators. Dr. Vaughan's goal is to improve learning for those involved, but also to develop better methods for students in more remote areas where face-to-face teaching is more difficult. |
