John Winterdyk

Professor John Winterdyk has published extensively in the areas of criminological theory, youth at risk, corrections and criminal justice related issues both within a national and international context. In 1988, he earned his PhD in Criminology from Simon Fraser University. Since then, John has been employed at Mount Royal. John is currently an Adjunct Professor at three different university and has been a regular Visiting Scholar at the Max Plank Institute for Criminology in Freiburg, Germany. He has written/ edited over 25 textbooks including recent (co)edited books: "adult corrections" (2014 deSitter Pub.), "youth at risk and youth justice" (2015 OUP), "juvenile justice: international models, trends and patterns" (2015 - CRC Press), as well as co-edited a book on Human Trafficking (2012 CRC Press). He is also working on new edition of a textbook on "Canadian criminology" (OPU), "Issues and perspectives on young offenders in Canada" (OUP), and "Youth at risk and "International crime prevention" (CRC Press). In 2014 John had several peer reviewed journal articles published and is involved in several local and international research projects. He serves on several international and local boards and is currently a supervisor on two PhD committees and several Honors students in Namibia.
